Greetings!

I grew up in the suburbs between Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. In the Spring of 2008 I relocated to Brooklyn, and have been working as a freelance photographer ever since. My pictures have appeared in W Magazine, Culture+Travel, and Monocle.

In July-August of 2008, I traveled through Germany for seven weeks, beginning work on a personal project about the youth.

There is a shared identity between the third generation of Jews and Germans, the grandchildren of World War II. Twice removed from the events of the war, the collective history has more inherent potential to unite the two different peoples than to divide them. With this mindset, I set off for Germany, projecting my hopes of promise onto the people I met. The country is trying to redefine itself, honoring the memory of the past while paving a new road for the future. This fact was never far from my mind. The project was a way of creating a new history for myself; one based on personal experiences, rather than preconceived generalizations and mistrust. By meeting other young people and acknowledging our unique shared history, I sought to get to the heart of something more honest than what I knew before.

Pictures from this trip form the foundation of the project, kin* and can be seen here.
